The Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) announced the release of the 7th edition of the Annual Statistical Bulletin (ASB) 2023, a comprehensive publication highlighting the significant contributions of the members in the global natural gas industry.
The recent edition is supported by the Data Exchange Mechanism among members and statistical estimations from primary and secondary sources, highlighting the Member countries' potential and performance in the natural gas sector over the last decade.
The publication's six sections offer diverse datasets, charts and analytics on topics ranging from macroeconomics and members & observers' country Indicators to referential gas market prices, providing a snapshot of the influence and position of GECF members in the global natural gas market, their infrastructure and the evolution of gas prices in different regions during the recent years. ASB 2023 aims to promote global data transparency and information sharing among its members and stakeholders, benefiting the community with a historical market understanding.
The GECF member countries in 2022 collectively represented 70% of the world's natural gas reserves, reaffirming their central role in shaping the global energy landscape.
Natural gas, as the cleanest-burning hydrocarbon, plays a pivotal role in the energy transition, with gas demand rising across diverse applications, including power generation, heating, transportation, petrochemicals, fertilisers, and feedstock, among other transformational socio-economic benefits, aiming to provide affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all.
The publication's release occurred during the 25th GECF Ministerial Meeting, held in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, on 10 October 2023.
